7th June 2000 - The Blade is Ready - Change of Route
Hi Nick and everybody - just a short note to advise you that I am ready to fly on. I tested my machine last Sunday and it flew like a dream. I am just putting in a few finishing touchs, helping to host an open day here for publicity then I head out but in a more northerly direction. I now have a revised plan. I have had a lot of advice duing my 5 week stay here in Cleveland from many kinds of flyers from airline pilots to wartime fighter pilots and all have agreed that my biggest delays will be around the mountains in the west waiting on the right wind conditions. I have now lost more than a month so now I do not have the time to spare without putting myself under pressure. I have decided to head northwest across Texas towards Amarillo and just into New Mexico and from there head North to the Canada border then as before continue East. This regretfully leaves out the West coast but I am certain that if I tried to cover that now with the lost time I wouldn't make it on time, and I must finish in Florida to ship my machine home last week in Sept. To make it more interesting I am going to zig zag and visit as many states as possible - at least 30 - although I will only be able to cross the state line briefly for some of them. My target is 30 plus, and I have listed below the ones I am most likely to make (not all in order). I expect to leave Cleveland sunrise Sat morning 10th June and head Northwest across Texas. As before I will keep you updated as I progress. Best Regards,SOUTH CAROLINA |
