Dave The Blade's Cuttin Edge Tour of the USA
18th September 2000 - BACK IN TITUSVILLE

After 6 months of adventure, Dave is finally back where he started in Florida. The East coast provd to be the most difficult part of the trip, with bad weather meaning it was flown in small jumps, opportunities seized whenever the conditions cleared for an hour or so.

The journey has taken Dave through 33 states over a distance of approximately 6,000 miles. The Blade has now done another 130 hours (or at least, those bits of it that survived the tornado), and on the way Dave has flown over some pretty inhospitable territory. By his own admission he is not a Milton or a Bodill - rather more in the mould of Colin Mackinnon, the Flying Scotsman. Nonetheless, this is no mean achievement.

As soon as he gets back to the UK Dave is planning to write a book which is provisionally entitled 'Backpacking with a Microlight'. All the proceeds from the book will go to Cancer Research, and the book will of course be available for sale through Micropages' online shop as soon as it is published - watch this space.

Dave's tales of his hectic trip down the Eastern seaboard will be appearing here as soon as Dave finds a net connection - his laptop and modem are still down. To whet your appetite I can tell you that he spent a night as a guest of the Amish after an overheating engine necessitated a precautionary landing. He says they were incredibly hospitable, but although they treated him to a buggy ride they wouldn't take a flight as they do not believe in using engines or electricity. More about Dave's stay with these fascinating people as soon as we get it.

Dave will be returning to the UK in a week or so. Once the final installment is published here the website will still be updated from time to time with news of the book and the Cancer Research campaign; and you will be able to come and read Dave's extensive adventures whenever you wish.

WELL DONE DAVE!
