23rd April 2000 - PENSACOLA
Now clocked up 600 miles and 12 plus hours. I am with a friend (Ian Garnham) at Pensacola. Progress is slow due to head winds, bad heat turbulence and the hospitality of these wonderful US fliers. I am also doing a great deal of zig zagging to avoid snake and alligator infested areas and some huge missile and bomb testing ranges. If I stray into one of these or one of the many of Airforce bases on this coast I am likely to be escorted to the nearest military base by an F 16 Fighter and locked up, and I mean even the smallest incursion. As you can imagine I'm doing a lot of sweating in flight and not all due to the heat and the often extreme turbulence. Dave McGauley
