Dave McGauley planned and saved for four years to undertake a flight that he believed no Briton had achieved, namely to circumnavigate the USA in a flexwing microlight solo and unsupported. He started this flight in April 2000, leaving his job and taking 6 months to complete the flight, which he estimated would cost at least £10,000.
